Look Book – Purple tights combo with white

28 May

I’ve noticed that someone has been consistently searching for a ‘Purple Tights Combo’ which has been linking to my blog for the last 2 weeks…. (which one of you silent readers is it? haan haan?) :p

Well I took that as a suggestion and came up with 2 looks of the purple tights combo with white that someone like me would be super comfy in and yet look like a complete fashionista.

The best part, all of the things paired up are available in Pakistan via retail shops, online or from your tailor 😉

1. Lunch Date

The weather is insanely hot these days and as much as we’d love to dress up for a lunch date, it ends up looking downright uncomfortable.
This look can be completed with a messy topknot & matte barely there make-up. Opt for cotton tights rather then lycra to keep it sweat free!

2. In the Bloom

I love this look probably because it has some of my favorite accessories from Accessorize Pakistan.

However if you aren’t comfy with a shorter shirt with tights, you could also switch tops with some of these gorgeous white tops from Sublime by Sara

BodyShop Baked Coral Blush – Review

25 May

Although I am was a stickler for Mac blushes ever since I started using them, the previous weekend found me randomly window shopping at the Dolmen City, which inevidently lead me to the bronzer pearls at the Body Shop outlet.

After trying a couple of bronzers on my self and not getting any approvals on how it looked on me from my mom who had accompanied me, the lovely representative decided I needed something pink to freshen my skin up rather than a bronze.

Now being a normal desi, my skin varies between tan to wheatish and I always thought PINK shades did not suit me at all, but apparently I was wrong.

From the ‘Baked to Last’ line, this duo is named Coral. Compact packaging, sturdy pressed powder which gives enough product to last ages.
The blush has a deep pink blush and a shimmery peachy highlight.

CYMERA_20130525_145558

Since this is a baked blush, it has minimal fallout during application but unlike most baked product, the pickup is easy & the texture smooth and silky.

Thankfully, the highlighter does not have chunky glitter embedded in it, so although the first application is pretty sheer, the buildup instantly gives a lot of pigmentation without making it look chunky or cakey.

Both the colors can be used individually or mixed up to create a lovely Coral (Yes, that’s why the blush is named so).

blush shades

I’ve used all 3 shades (2 individuals and 1 mixed) the past whole week. The highlighter is absolutely lovely to set straight the biridge of the nose or enhance the cheek bones.
A build up of pink underneath the cheekbones does some fabulous sculpting while the coral gives a gorgeous naturally flushed glow for both day time work wear or evening wear.

I’ve used the blush in the pic below with a minimal base, eyeliner and mascara.

Tell me what you think!! 🙂

Atif Aslam & Sara Bharwana’s Uber Glam mehendi

Atif Aslam is finally off the single market & tied the knot with the beautiful Sara Bharwana, a long time sweetheart.[My condolence ladies]

Sara in the mehendi pics below wears a a gorgeous dress by Karma Red while Atif; known for his penchant for elaborate headgears changes clothes from a balochi attire accessoried with a black velvet waistcoat and Pagri to a purple kurta and a yellow Pagri.

Cant wait to see what Karma comes up with for Sara for the wedding tomorrow and will Atif change sherwani’s mid ceremony again…or not 😉

The myth behind the Mythic Oil

25 Mar

mythic-oil__22714_zoom

Don’t we all keep looking for that magic potion that instantaneously provides beautiful strong hair? 🙂

In my usual hunts for the same, I came across this product and decided to see the result for 4 weeks before recording a review.

The mythic oil (nourishing oil) in a bottle is actually a serum and different from the Mythic oil spa treatment at the salons. Contrary to popular misunderstanding, this serum is not to be used for oiling or massaging; instead is to be lightly applied to shower damp hair before drying.

Packaged in a plastic pump bottle, it holds enough serum to easily last you for more than 8 months.

Mythic Oil’s consistency is very light oil with a subtle nutty fragrance & It hardly leaves an oily residue on your palms. Instantly makes hair soft, frizz and tangle free while protecting them from the thermal blast of hairdryers and straighteners.

Mythic oil coated hair without a blow-dry leaves hair in soft waves which can be straightened in a single sweep of the straightener; hence reducing the damage.

While for those with curly hair, a good dollop of the mythic oil spread evenly though your hair leaves those curls smooth and shiny without having the urge to brush them through.

At the end of 4 weeks, my hair quality has improved considerably and since I don’t need to blow-dry or straighten hair as frequently, the hair fall rate has decreased too.

Price: PKR 2500

Pants for the Petite.

11 Mar

Yes the word is petite!

Not healthy, not chubby, certainly not a pear!

A friend on FB via her status recently revealed the pants problem that each and everyone of us faces. Which ones for us?

Its unfortunate though that the majority of females in the world are of this body type and YET find it impossible to find the perfect pair of pants. So find yourself a good tailor or a plus size store (none in PK) and follow these tips!

Golden Rules:
– Dark colors reduce and light colors broaden!
– pants cropping just around the ankles tend to cop your height too
– Poofy tops should be paired with slim pants and vice versa.

Curvaceous with a cinched waist:

Blame it on office jobs or family tendency but the fact remains that hips are the first to broaden given a chance. But if it accompanies a comparatively cinched waist, you are in luck.
Your keyword is STRAIGHT!

– Straight and loose from the hips down for dress pants or for fabrics with a fall
– Straight with the slimmest boot cut (if at all) for jeans
– or straight skinnies if your thighs and calves don’t look segmented or out of proportion.

Waistless:

Stop! Its not as band as it sounds. Waistless happens when your waist merges with a very flat chest and bum; so its actually about m

aking curves appear to stop looking like a rectangle (Lucky!)

– Skinnies, Tights and everything tightening at your ankles should be your new best friend. It adds girth to your waist.
– Go crazy with the embellishments on the pants
– remember the light/dark rule to accentuate your best features

Wider lower half:

I am a happy birdie if I’m just looking at my narrow shoulders and a nice slim top half but thats where it stops. No, thats where it starts broadening actually. Affectionately called the pear, we make the most common body types that plague Pakistani women and its all a conspiracy coz schools, colleges and offices make us sit all day long – Not *sigh*

Slimmer top halves allow ladies to help themselves to a variety of tops but when it comes to pants; you must

– Stick with straight cuts from the knee down
– Slim Bootcuts. Even in extreme cases they must not flare wider then your hips
– Never the jeans with embellishments on the waist or pockets. Opt for vertical pinstripes instead
– Pallazo pants in small prints or solid colors look amazing when paired with a mid thigh length, well fitting shirt (Keep them bums covered)
– Your pants should always been in a darker color then your top

Go crazy at the cute prints and bordered fabrics available at Ashiana and pair it with a bohemian chiffon blouse to show off your narrow shoulders, chest and skinny arms 🙂

pants 3

Wider Top Half:

All of the above, inverted to suit your top half. Thats dark colors, minimalistic cuts, no ruffles or embellishments and definitely never a lighter color then your pants.
Show off those legs in flared bottoms that balance out your shoulders. Avoid skinnies as they tend to enhance the width up top.

Muffin Top: (heavy chest and midriff)

– Slim bootcuts accentuated with heels
– Straight tailored trousers from the knee-down
– Avoid pairing skinnies or tights with a loose shirt – it makes people look like walking lollypops *grimace*

Women Empowerment | Karo Yaqeen

7 Mar

P&G Pakistan embarks yet again on a CSR project amongst its multiple already.

the Karo Yaqeen campaign lies under the ‘Always’ wing [pun very much intended 🙂 ] and champions ‘Women Empowerment’ via education for young girls. The company and the brand under the Karo Yaqeen banner have and will continue to award several scholarships to females across Pakistan.

This platform aims to provide young Pakistani girls an opportunity to openly express themselves and instill in them the confidence to pursue their ambitions.

The gorgeous Amina Shaikh and the recently nominated for Women of the Year award; Zeb & Haniya are brand ambassadors for this campaign. Given the present day situation of Pakistan and the gradual rise in women empowerment, this campaign will go a long way.

Amina wore the brand’s new colors to the launch which consisted not only of the media but also female bloggers, career women and socialites – Not to mention each guest got a gorgeous purple leather wallet to keep reminding us of the main cause at hand.

Blue Mascara – Brands, Tips & Tricks

25 Feb

Blue mascaras are raging back in and but are far more chicer then those in the 80’s!

Various shades of blue are easily available in the Pakistani market, but which one is for you?

blue_20mascara_20shades

If you are anywhere below 25 or can carry of a punk look (are you sure??!!) bright blues, teal and cerulean are the shades to go for; like the Rimmel Extra Super lash in Electric Blue (PKR 650/-)
It not only delivers good color to the lashes but its unique wand helps to separate and define lashes giving you a wide-eyed look

Compliment with a smudged dash of nude, pale yellow or shimmery white to enhance the blue.

Above 25?
Navy & Royal are the shades you should strictly stick to to carry of a look that says panache and elegance.

Desi Brown eyes love dark blue mascara and make the whites pop too for a bright-eyed look on one of those tired eyes days.  Some of the brands you should definitely invest in are:

1. Maybelline Great Lash in Royal Blue (PKR 850/-)
2. L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Blackest Blue (PKR 1100/-)

Both brands are easily available at all leading cosmetic stores!

TIPS:

1. Never pair blue mascaras with red lipstick, but chose more serene shades of pink or nude. Lip stains look fab with blue mascaras

2. Various shades of blue needs several coats to truly appear on our dark lashes. A simple way to avoid multiple coats and clumping is to let your concealer or liquid foundation smudge the lashes. Dust it with loose powder and then apply the mascara.

3. Worried your blue lashes would look too garish? Apply black mascara on the top lashes and blue on the lower ones to get the color and the pop but still remain in the classic black category.

4. Offset your blue lashes with a soft shadow liner in the same shade towards the outer corner to give an illusion of thicker lashes and a prominent eye shape.
